In today's technological-rational society, “escapism” plants a seed to a more grounded social order. An “honest substitute for revolution”. It assigns importance to the present moment, distancing oneself from the complex realities of life. The refraction and light patterns mirror our attempts to cope with a chaotic inner world of emotions, while heightened colours signify intense emotions.
In this collection of paintings often we see only a glimpse of a figure, a symbol, emerging through the water, advancing into another world. Exploring escapism engages the viewer to gain positive admission into different worlds, alternate times and places where we can discover ourselves and clarify emotions.
