Confluence is a circular mixed-media work from Hollie O’Neill’s Papatūānuku Series, inspired by the meeting of water and sky across the landscapes of Aotearoa.
Flowing layers of pigment and glossy epoxy create a sense of movement and depth, reflecting the ever-changing surface of water and the expansive atmosphere of the sky. Soft tonal shifts and organic forms merge and flow together, creating a work that feels fluid, calm and immersive.
Confluence explores the quiet moment where water, sky and light meet — a reflection of the natural beauty and energy of Aotearoa.
Confluence is part of Hollie O’Neill’s Papatūānuku Series, inspired by the shifting waters and expansive skies of Aotearoa’s landscapes.
"After immersing myself in nature, I carry back a sense of connection and belonging, which becomes the emotional foundation for each artwork. With Confluence, my focus turns towards the meeting of water and sky — the way light, colour and movement merge.
In the studio, I translate these impressions through tonal colour palettes, tactile surfaces and layers of pigment combined with epoxy polymer. The fluid, glossy finishes evoke the reflective movement of water, while organic forms flow and merge, creating a sense of calm, depth and continual movement."
